Gustav Café: A taste of Paris

Gustav Café: A taste of Paris

To be able to travel around the world would be a dream come true for me. Especially to go to Paris, France and see the Eiffel tower. Unfortunately, I can't do that yet. I still have a looooong way to go before I'll be able to make my dearest dreams come true. So, I went to see its miniature in the meantime. What a very bright idea. Hahaha.

Last September 25, 2014, my friends and I went to Gustav Café to celebrate the birthday of one of our friends.

Gustav Café is a French-inspired restaurant. It was named after the man behind the construction of the famous Eiffel tower, who was Engineer Gustave Eiffel.

The café offers a wide selection of international cuisine. Pizza, pasta and steak are a few of the dishes that they serve. They have baked goodies like cakes, cookies, macarons and more for dessert. They also offer a variety of beverages like frappe, smoothie, shake, coffee, iced tea and alcoholic drinks.

The ambiance of the place was very cozy. Neither was it so noisy nor was it too quiet. The chairs were just so comfortable to sit on. The dim lights also contributed to the coziness of the place. The decorations gave the restaurant a more elegant look and the background music was just very soothing to hear.

Pork Strips with Garlic Cream Sauce (Php130.00)
For that price, the meal is very affordable. The dish is worth every peso, believe me. The pork strips were juicy, they were cooked just right and the garlic cream sauce actually was a great complement to the meat.

Gustav Pizza le France (Php350.00)
What I loved about the pizza was that the crust was thin yet so chewy and the mozzarella cheese was just ohh-la-la. What I didn't like about it was the meat, it tasted like uncooked sweet ham and the taste of the sauce was weird. It was a bit sweet and sour I think.

Red Velvet Cake (Php119.00/slice)
Out of all the cakes I've tried in Gustav, this was the best. It was not too sweet unlike the rest. It also had some coconut bits which I also liked about this.

Blueberry Chocolate Cake (Php89.00/slice)
The combination of the blueberry and chocolate was just not right for me. I was also a bit disappointed to find out that the icing was just whipped cream and not cream cheese.

Decadent Cake (Php89.00/slice)
This one is a most chocolate cake. According to the waiter, this was their bestseller but I find it too sweet.

Overall, it was a good experience. The food was okay and I would definitely come back to try more of what the café offers.
